There is a race along the Lake Huron shoreline today to find as many summer jobs for students as possible.
Officers from Service Canada Centres for Youth will be in Kincardine, Port Elgin, Southampton and Sauble Beach today.
Teams will race to talk to as many employers and secure as many job postings as possible.
The event is part of Hire A Youth Week this week.
Youth Services Officer Liam Mulroy says they have already had a busy week with their office openings in Walkerton and Owen Sound.
Mulroy says they have already secured summer jobs for students — ranging from administrative work to odd jobs from local homeowners.
Mulroy says any job posting they get from an employer will be listed on their job bank website at www.jobbank.gc.ca
Mulroy says they can also help youth with their resume and interview skills.
Last year — the three officers in Owen Sound, Walkerton and Collingwood posted 270 job openings.
Mulroy hopes they can at least match that total this year.
The Service Canada Centres for Youth will be open until August 28th.
