We shouldn’t see rolling strikes by Red Cross Home Care Workers in our region anytime soon.
Workers have in Ontario have voted to ratify an agreement with the Red Cross.
The three-year agreement was reached at the end of April, and ended rotating strikes that hit Owen Sound twice.
The agreement was endorsed by 66 per cent of home-care workers.
The key issue for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) was compensation for travel time between appointments.
The provider of home-care services is now obligated to cover a portion of workers’ travel time between clients.
The home care workers provide services to seniors, those with disabilities or recovering from surgery as well as children with special needs.
