A Hanover teenager has been chosen to represent Canada at the European Union Contest for Young Scientists.
16 year old Megan Schlorff will travel to Paris, France to participate in the week long competition in September.
The Grade 10 student at Walkerton Sacred Heart high school will be the only Canadian at the competition.
Schlorff was chosen from about 500 students at the Canada Wide Science Fair held last month in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
That is where Schlorff won two gold medals and a 10 thousand dollar scholarship.
Schlorff is no stranger to Science Fairs.
Over the last few years she has won 26 thousand dollars in scholarships and five gold medals.
Her latest project — ‘Down the Drain, Only to Resurface Again’ — discovered that many of the compounds found in personal care products such as antibacterial soap remains in water even after it has been treated.
