Sparks could fly at a meeting this evening of the Bayview School Community Council over the issue of whether to expand the school’s parking lot at the expense of a playground.
The issue already has been debated at a previous meeting which resulted in a stalemate on whether the council would back the plan or ask the Bluewater Board of Education to scrap the proposal.
The board already has allocated 400 thousand dollars for the new parking lot and larger bus bus loop and fire lane.
One of the parents supporting the proposal is Richard Thomas.
He says the existing lot is an accident waiting for a place to happen because of the number of cars coming and going and children walking through the parking lot.
However those opposed to the new parking lot say if people obeyed the no parking signs in the fire lane there would be no problems.
They also say a new larger bus loop is not needed because only two buses deliver children to the school every day.
The Council tonight will again vote on whether they approve or disapprove of the parking lot plans and then sent their decision off to the school board.
Richard Thomas says however no mater what they do, their decision is not binding on the school board which could either go ahead with the proposal or cancel it despite what the parents wanted.
