Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce will soon be getting a substantial cheque in the mail.
The local chapter has been awarded second place in a program that encourages Habitat for Humanity affiliates to incorporate sustainable energy efficient components into their building projects.
The award is worth 60 thousand dollars for the local chapter.
The Winnipeg chapter placed first and picked up a 100 thousand dollar prize.
The Program is sponsored by Rio Tinto Alcan and Habitat for Humanity Canada and aims to increase the energy efficiency of Habitat homes as well as reducing green house gas emissions.
The Winnipeg and Grey Bruce Chapters of Habitat for Humanity are the two oldest chapters of the 72 in Canada.
