The Doctor will be in the house at the Emergency Room at the Owen Sound hospital this summer.
Grey Bruce Health Services President and CEO Maureen Solecki says there should not be any problems providing 24/7 emergency room care at the Owen Sound hospital during the busy summer holiday season.
The arrival of thousands of summer visitors usually puts additional strain on the already busy emergency room,
Solecki says they are seeing some very promising signs with respect to Physician manpower at the Owen Sound ER.
She says however it is a different story at some of their rural hospitals where there could be some challenges providing 24 hour emergency room care seven days a week.
Solecki says there is no talk yet of any emergency room closures this summer because of a shortage of ER doctors, but they are monitoring the situation very closely and hopefully will have the human resources to keep the departments operating.
She says just the loss one doctor in the community really can have a negative effect on their ability to provide 24/7 emergency room care at their hospital.
Solecki says while they are keeping a very close eye on the situation at their rural emergency rooms, the news at the Owen Sound hospital is very positive.
Last summer, because there was a concern that the ER would have to face some temporary closures because of doctor shortages, but that never did happen.
