Successful Cops for Cancer events taking place throughout the region this month.
This year’s proceeds from the Shallow Lake event last night exceeded last year’s tally at 64 hundred dollars.
Nine participants had their heads shaved including the only woman, Geraline Cole of the County of Grey who raised about 19 hundred dollars herself.
And Shouldice employees and management collected 15 hundred dollars for the cause.
The next shave off happens in Meaford on Sunday and kicks off with a parade at 1:30 PM from town hall.
Saugeen Shores’ event is set for Saturday May 30th.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the shave off and golf tournament.
To mark the occasion Police Chief Dan Rivett and his wife Glenna, have both agreed to have their heads shaved for the cause.
Rivett says they don’t have any particular goal in their fundraising, saying it’s more the act of doing something to fight cancer.
He says he and his wife will be in front of Wardrop Pharmasave on Goderich Street in downtown Port Elgin tomorrow from Noon until 2 PM, conducting a barbecue.
All proceeds will go towards the pledges for the Rivett’s head shaving on May 30th.
