Another case of rabies has turned up in Grey Bruce.
This time, test results received yesterday confirm rabies in a skunk from Paisley.
There was no human involvement.
This is the third rabid animal report for Grey Bruce in 2009: one rabid fox in March and one positive skunk in April.
In Grey Bruce, most animal biting incidents occur in the spring and summer when people are outdoors.
The majority of bites in 2009 are from dogs, followed by cats, and then other animals.
Health Unit officials remind people that it is the law all cats and dogs over three months, and all riding horses in Grey Bruce must be vaccinated for rabies.
Vaccinations protect pets from acquiring rabies and help protect you and your family if your pet is bitten by a rabid wild animal.
Ensure that your pets immunization is up-to-date.
