Police in our area have been dealing with some interesting situations so far this long weekend.
OPP in Wasaga Beach were called to a motel on Mosley Street Saturday after reports a man with a knife was threatening several people.
Police found the man and arrested him without incident.
A 53 year old from Wasaga is charged.
Officers have also charged a 15 year old girl in connection with a family dispute at a home in the west end of Wasaga Beach on Saturday.
Police say a young woman threatened and assaulted a young man at the home.
In Barrie, police were called to the Roxx Nightclub just before closing.
There had been a large fight inside the bar and a 28 year old man was arrested for causing a disturbance.
A 42 year old man has been charged for stealing from a couple of stores in Barrie.
Police got a call from Sobey’s on Mapleview Drive regarding a shoplifter who got away.
A witness saw the man dicard some clothing to try to change his appearance.
Officers found the suspect in Home Depot.
Four bottles of expensive booze were found on him.
It’s believed the alcohol was taken from the LCBO on Caplan.
In total, officers have responded to 94 calls in 24 hours from 9 AM on Saturday to 9 AM Sunday.
There were 4 disturbing the peace calls, 3 cases of mischief and 14 traffic complaints.
OPP gave out 37 tickets including 14 for speeding and 13 for liquor related offenses.
16 people also spent some time in a cell for being intoxicated in a public place.
While police continue to enforce their “strict is fair” policy, officers have charged a 21 year old from Mississauga with impaired driving after a car was spotted speeding down Mosley Street Saturday night.
A passenger was also standing up out of the sunroof.
Police pulled over another vehicle on River Road East on Saturday.
Officers stopped the vehicle for a minor traffic offense, but found three of the four people in the car had marijuana in their possession.
Three people, one 18 years old and the other two 19, all from Toronto, are charged.
