The new provincial ban on cosmetic pesticides has left the Municipality of South Bruce wondering how it will weed out the weeds.
Operations Manager Sharon Chambers says the municipality has normally used products such as roundup in parks to mark foul lines on baseball diamonds, and on sidewalks to eliminate weeds growing along the edges.
She says because the legislation doesn’t allow pesticides for cosmetic use, it creates a challenge on what to use instead.
Chambers says they’re going to start looking at alternative products to keep main streets and other in-town areas aethetically pleasing.
