The Conservative MP for Simcoe Grey confirms she is not pregnant, but that doesn’t mean she won’t be in the near future.
Helena Guergis tells Bayshore Broadcasting News she and husband Rahim Jaffer want to plan a family.
Jaffer, also politician, lost his seat in his Alberta riding in the last federal election and has decided not to run again.
Guergis says that means he’ll be home a lot more and will be able to help take care of a baby in the future.
She adds she hasn’t even had time to think about how many kids she’d like or when they will start their family.
Guergis and Jaffer have a home in Angus and one in Ottawa.
They got married in a quick backyard ceremony on October 15th, the day after the last election.
The couple will be having a reception in her riding of Simcoe Grey on August 22nd.
Guergis is currently a junior cabinet minister- Secretary of State for the Status of Women.
She tells us she’s embarking on a cross Canada tour as part of an action plan to help women improve their economic situations.
