A safety blitz by Owen Sound police has resulted in several commercial vehicles being pulled off the road.
Inspector Stephen MacKinnon says they patrolled city streets yesterday and directed 21 vehicles to the parking lot of the Coliseum for inspection.
The vehicles were checked by members of the Ministry of Transportation as well as the Ministry of Finance to make sure they were using the proper diesel fuel.
Eight of the vehicles were taken off the road because of safety defects.
A dozen other tickets were written for various offences including improper class of drivers licence and having no lights on a trailer.
Fair warning; Inspector MacKinnon says they’ll be working with provincial officials throughout the year focusing on smaller commercial vehicles that use the city’s roads on a daily basis.
