Tourism promotion in Simcoe County isn’t sitting well with many Collingwood Councillors.
At a recent presentation by Tourism Simcoe County, members of council were disappointed to see that none of the town’s golf courses were included in the county’s golf guide.
And on the county’s guide map, major Collingwood attractions were also left out.
Simcoe Tourism General Manager Jane Sinclair says it’s because past advertisers were given the first chance to be in the guides again which filled up the quota.
Sinclair says she welcomes the feedback, even the negative comments, because this gives her group the information it needs to do a better job in the future.
She says it also strengthens the partnership with surrounding municipalities.
Council gives 12 to 14 thousand dollars a year to the county for tourism initiatives which had a few councillors questioning what they’re paying for.
Tourism Simcoe is meeting today with area tourism groups to work on better strategies.
