The first ever Chief’s Citation awards have been handed out by the Owen Sound Police Service.
Bayshore Broadcasting’s own Bob Wallace and Diana Meder are among those recognized.
Deputy Chief Bill Sornberger says the pair have been overwhelming supportive of police initiatives and continue to selflessly contribute to life in Owen Sound.
Also recognized are David Perry and Monica Solomon.
Sornberger says last summer, Perry and Solomon came to the aid of a man who had been stabbed during an unprovoked assault.
Sornberger says without their quick thinking, the situation for the victim would certainly have turned critical.
Sornberger says it’s important to recognize people in the community who go above and beyond.
The Chief’s Citations were presented at the newly renovated police building at noon today.
The building is also open for tours as Police Week continues.
The new awards are just one of the inaugural events taking place during Police Week this year.
On Thursday, Lindsey Marck, a grade 5 student from Notre Dame, will be sworn in as Chief for a Day.
