Port Elgin’s newest restaurant and pub – the Blind Badger on Goderich Street – is set to open tomorrow.
Owner Paul Crowley says they’ve been working on the project for a year with family doing the bulk of the labour to get the space finished.
He says they decided to go with just a soft opening for the establishment, without any major celebration.
Crowley says if the amount of interest the community has been showing is an indication, then business should be strong right from the start.
Crowley says the atmosphere is meant to look like an old English pub with lots of oak and copper, along with brass taps.
The Blind Badger isn’t a sports bar or a rock music venue.
Crowley says they are aiming for a niche market that wants a quiet atmosphere to enjoy a drink or watch a game.
The pub features a bistro menu and an executive chef is in charge of the kitchen.
15 employees are on staff, and Crowley says that could increase in the summer, but he hopes business is steady year round.
