Another major step has been made towards getting the last of the upgrades completed on the Grey-Bruce Line.
Bruce County Councillor and Highways Chair Ron Oswald says they’ve had discussions with Grey County and a tender has been accepted from Wayne Schwartz Construction of Chesley to complete the final section from where work ended last fall to the Scone bridge.
Oswald says applications for federal infrastructure grants are also being made.
The county is seeking Infrastructure Stimulus Fund money for work on the West Road in North Bruce Peninsula, County Road 17 in Saugeen Shores, and Forrester’s Bridge in Paisley.
A Building Canada grant application is also being made for work on County Road 6 between Holyrood and Ripley.
Oswald says they’ll be getting an update from the County Engineer on the status of the grants at next Thursday’s Highways Committee meeting.
