Bruce Power is taking a few extra precautions agains the H1N1 flu virus.
Manager of Government Relations Ross Lamont says they’ve started an education program to inform employees how to protect themselves against the virus through things like better hand washing.
Although there are no cases of H1N1 locally, Lamont says they do have plans in place to keep units operating in the event the virus does affect staff.
Visitors to the site are also being more closely monitored at security for possible illness.
Lamont says the company has placed some restrictions on business travel.
Bruce Power recently sent a transformer to Mexico for refurbishing and has to be inspected by a staff member before it can be returned to Canada.
Lamont says the need to have the device returned to Canada for service isn’t urgent, so they are not sending a staff inspector from here due to the H1N1 situation in Mexico.
Lamont says they are not restricting private employee travel for vacations.
