Local tourism operators are gearing up for a great summer as long as Mother Nature co operates.
Chris Hughes, Manager of Bruce County Tourism says they started preparing with a brochure swap this week — where tourism operators trade pamphlets and information about their locations and events coming up this summer.
He says in tougher economic times everyone has to find innovative ways to get their message out.
He says they’re hitting the internet hard with information on Youtube, Twitter and Facebook about events happening in the region this summer including the new Adventure Passport and the Grey County photo contest.
Hughes says most local operators are optimistic about a successful year with many Ontarians deciding to stay closer to home for their vacations.
He says many GTA residents will make the trip north for some of the larger events in the region including Summerfolk in Owen Sound and Pumpkinfest in Port Elgin.
