The Saugeen Shores Community Action Network hopes to find out just how walkable the town is.
During Turn off the Screens Week last week — the group sent a checklist with local school aged-children home to find out how easy they find it to walk in parts of the community.
The checklist covers things like how easy it is to cross streets, behaviour of drivers, or obstructions along public walkways.
Walkability Subcommittee Chair Linda Virgo says it will help identify areas where improvements could be made.
Virgo hopes they can gather some useable information.
She says the fact that Saugeen Shores is already close to having a 40 kilometre trail system, means it is well on it’s way to being a highly walkable community.
Turn of the Screens Week aims to get children away from televisions and computers and instead taking part in physical activity.
