Plans for a new library in Wasaga Beach are moving along.
The Library Board is planning for a much larger library to move into.
Library Board Chair Liz Cunningham says they are in desparate need to grow, and already have an idea of what they want the new library to look like.
She made a presentation to Town council on April 14th to give them an update on their progress of planning a new library.
She says the proposed location is in the Stonebridge Plaza near Wal-Mart, and adds the developer has helped them with the design as well.
Cunningham says they are looking to the new library as a cultural centre for the town, and they want to add art and music, and create spaces where people can have meetings as well.
She says they new library should be 4 times larger than it is now, which means it would be 20 thousand square feet.
That number wouldn’t include the archives either.
Cunningham says the plan is a wonderful dream, and a great goal, and says everything already put into the current library will be brought to the new one.
She says the Wasaga Beach budget has a date of 2012 for funding for the new library, but she hopes government grants will help get the project started sooner.
