It’s Oscar night in Saugeen Shores in a manner of speaking.
Tonight the Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards are being handed out.
A panel has whittled down the nominees to three in each of the seven categories which include Business of the Year and Customer Service award to name a couple.
The winnters will be announced tonight at the Lakeshore Recreation Centre as part of the Chamber’s 50th anniversary celebrations and annual general meeting.
Because it’s the 50th anniversary, a dance will follow the dinner and award presentations.
Also at the gala they will be unveiling the Fred Weurth Memorial Tri-County Growers Award.
Tonight’s event gets underway at six with a social hour, followed by dinner and a state of the municipality report from Mayor Mike Smith.
Awards will then be handed out followed by the dance.
It’s named after former Mayor Weurth who created Pumpkinfest in Port Elgin.
The plaque will have the names of the best local growers in competition at the Pumpkinfest weigh-in from Bruce, Grey and Huron counties beginning with this fall’s competition.
