Forty-three CUPE workers are set to strike May 20th in Kincardine if they don’t get a new contract first.
They are support workers at Community Living Kincardine and District.
On May 14th, a mediation session will be held at the Best Western Governor’s Inn in Kincardine to try to work out a new contract.
CIPE National representative Jim Keenan says there are numerous outstanding issues and the union will request a “no board report” meaning the workers could be locked out or on strike on the 20th of this month.
Support workers help individuals with developmental problems to live actively and visibly in the community.
Keenan says they are looking for a settlement in line with contracts reached in several other areas including South Huron.
