Mini skirts and muscle shirts will now be officially frowned upon in the West Grey council chambers.
Council recently approved a dress code for meetings and corporate events.
Deputy Mayor Dan Sullivan was one of only two councillors to vote against the policy.
Sullivan says in his opinion the dress code is not needed because all councillors are professional in the first place.
He says nobody was dressing inappropriately and the idea just came up at the personnel committee.
The dress code means councillors are expected to dress in a businesslike manner when involved in town business, while casual business dress will be acceptable for less formal events.
Items that are out include mini skirts, muscle shirts, gym clothes, spandex, spaghetti straps, slippers — and bare feet.
Sullivan says he’d like to see an exception for work clothes.
He says they make a point of attracting business people to council and he’d rather everyone show up on time and be there to provide their input.
