200 workers at Tenneco in Owen Sound are going on short-term layoff effective tomorrow.
Human Resources Manager Mark Beaul tells Bayshore Broadcasting News 176 full time workers and 25 temporary workers are being laid off for anywhere from 5 to 11 weeks.
The cutback leaves just over 180 people working at the shock and strut manufacturer.
Beaul says all of the layoffs are because of the cutback at General Motors.
G-M is closing 13 plants this spring and summer for approximately two months and Tenneco is a major supplier for the carmaker.
Tenneco says the laid off workers will qualify for employment insurance and the last of the workers should be back on the job the week of July 20th.
Beaul declined to comment on the Chrysler situation, saying Tenneco does not do a lot of business with the company.
