The owner of Grey Motors says General Motors is making some tough decisions right now — but some good ones.
Gerry Pfeil is backing the automaker in its restructuring plans.
The owner of the Pontiac Buick GMC dealership in Springmount tells Bayshore Broadcasting News its a sad time for GM — but the company is making the right decisions.
He says the objective in restructuring is long term viability but the fall out is yet to be determined.
General Motors has announced that it will be cutting more than half of its work force across North America over the next five years — including plants in Oshawa and Windsor.
They’ve also announced they plan to close more than 300 dealerships across Canada by the end of next year and discontinue the Pontiac brand.
Pfeil assures his customers Grey Motors will not be closing down.
He admits though when there are too many dealerships and not enough sales — something’s got to give.
Pfeil says locally things are doing well.
They’ve just recorded their most successful April for new volume in the past ten years and its been a great time for Pontiac sales.
Pfeil says Grey Motors will do whatever it has to — to succeed.
