This is not good news in the search for a missing canoeist along the Lake Huron shoreline.
Bruce Peninsula OPP say the body of the man’s dog washed ashore yesterday afternoon between Southampton and Pike Bay.
Officers say the animal was in the canoe with 19 year old Joshua Wiedrick of Bowmanville when he was spotted struggling in his canoe against high wind and waves last week.
He was reported missing by his family on Saturday.
Wiedrick had been staying alone at a cottage on Saugeen First Nation.
Police say their air and water search between Southampton and Pike Bay will now be scaled back.
