With just weeks before the wrecking ball hits there is much to be done at the Hanover Coliseum.
The town’s Parks and Recreation Office is being relocated to the Civic Centre.
Other staff members are relocating to the Aquatic Centre and Westario Building.
The town is also working with neighbouring parks and recreation facilities in an attempt to secure ice time in area arenas for various user groups.
The Hanover Barons have already acquired ice in Durham for the next season.
Councillor and Recreation Complex Build Committee Chair Bob White admits it’s a lot of work but says in the end it will all be well worth it.
Tenders for the new 10 million dollar Recreation Complex will be in next month with demolition slated to occur in early June.
The entire construction project should be complete by August of 2010.
Anyone wanting to capture a piece of the 40 year old arena before the demolition should contact the town.
The town will be selling off some arena memorabilia such as arena seats to the public.
Hanover is also holding a “Last Blast in the Barn” celebration May 1st to 3rd.
