Higher education in Owen Sound is getting even higher.
Two University level courses will now be offered by Georgian College this fall in conjunction with Laurentian University in Sudbury.
The courses are Introduction to Writing and English Studies and Introduction to Psychology and will be offered through part time study during the evening.
Associate Dean Donna Jansen says this program is to help provide access to degree and graduate studies in under serviced areas.
She says this program already is a success in Barrie and Orillia, and the hope to build on that in this region.
Jansen says they should be able to accommodate about 40 students for each of the courses which makes for a very good environment for the students.
Georgian College already looking for instructors with a Masters degree to teach the course which is a requirement for a first year University course.
Jansen says if the response to these two courses is positive, then they hope to expand the program and offer even more University level courses next year.
