The Meaford and District Chamber of Commerce is getting some funding.
The Chamber has received a 35 thousand dollar grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The Chamber will use the money to establish a volunteer resource centre and hire a Volunteer Co-ordinator.
Their job will be to grow Meaford’s volunteer base — particularly with the younger demographic.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch presented the cheque on Friday as part of National Volunteer Week.
Murdoch says volunteerism is an important part of Meaford.
He adds growing the number of people involved will help community events.
