Two residents in Grey Bruce will be honoured today with the June Callwood award.
Twenty groups and individuals will receive the June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Awards for Voluntarism.
The provincial awards recognize volunteers who have shown exceptional leadership, innovation and creativity — and have also made significant contributions to their community.
Ann Kelly of Owen Sound will be honoured for thousands of volunteer hours — most notably with the Festival of Northern Lights.
Kelly — a former City Councillor — has also been involved with the Red Cross, the Hospital, the Kiwanis Club and Sleeping Children Around the World.
Eleanor Edwards of Southampton will also receive an award.
Edwards spent two decades volunteering for the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre.
She was also the Honorary Fundraising Chair and helped raise 1.2 million dollars for renovations at the facility.
The awards are named after June Callwood — a Canadian journalist, author and social activist.
