OHL Playoffs
The Windsor Spitfires have put away John Tavares and the London Knights.
Eric Wellwood’s goal in overtime gave the Spitfires a 4-3 victory to take the OHL West final in 5 games.
Tavares — the projected first overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft — got a goal and an assist for the Knights.
The Spitfires now await the winner of the East final between the Brampton and Belleville.
The Battalion are up 3-1 with Game 5 tonight (THU) in Belleville.
Terry named Snyder Award winner
Plymouth Whalers forward Chris Terry is the 2008-2009 Dan Snyder Memorial Trophy winner as the OHL’s Humanitarian of the Year.
The 20-year-old from Brampton was recognized for his efforts in the community.
The 5th Round Pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in 2007 finished second in scoring with 39 goals and 55 assists for 94 points in 53 games.
All 20 teams nominate 1 player from their team for the award, Owen Sound’s nominee this season was forward Marcus Carroll.

Dudley Hewitt Cup Junior A
Four games have been played in the Dudley Hewitt Cup tournament in Schreiber and all four have seen one team shutting out the other.
The Kingston Voyageurs — representing the Ontario Junior Hockey League — were beaten by Fort William 1-0.
Patrick Sullivan earned the shutout for the North Stars.
The host Diesels blanked the Soo Thunderbirds 2-0.

Ontario Junior C Playoffs
The defending Schmalz Cup champions are one loss away from getting swept in the Ontario Junior C finals.
The Essex 73’s blanked the Alliston Hornets 6-0 last night to take a 3-0 lead in the series.
Dan Reaume recorded a hat trick and Branden Robitaille got the shutout.
The 73’s can sweep the series and clinch the Schmalz Cup championship with a win Saturday night in Alliston.

WOAA Senior Hockey Playoffs
Game 5 of the WOAA Senior Mens “AA” Finals is tomorrow night at the Southampton Coliseum.
But if you are looking to get tickets for the game you may be out of luck.
Saugeen Shores Winterhawks Team President Gord Lamont tells Bayshore Broadcasting Sports that advanced tickets at Scoreboard Sports in Port Elgin are sold out.
He says there will be a limited number of tickets available at the Southampton Coliseum box office beginning at 6 tomorrow night.
The Winterhawks currently lead the Tavistock Royals 3-1 in the series and can wrap up the championship with a win.
Puck drops at 8:30 P.M..

The Owen Sound Grey Motros United soccer club are continuing to hold tryouts.
Anyone interested in trying out for the club are asked to go to the Kilsyth Arena tonight between 6:30 and 8:30 P.M..

Bowling
Here are the results from the Wednesday Morning Coffee League.
TheOwen.com finished on top with a plus-503, Jim Lang Plumbing was second with a plus-238, followed by Crown Rust Control with a plus-52.
Rounding out the standings, Grey Bruce Patio Enclosures — plus-21, Johnson Thompson Motors — plus-15, and Pilkington Roof — minus-60.
The top bowler was Darlene Wiseman who finished with an average of 229.
