Despite some controversy, the Hanover and District Hospital is not reversing an earlier decision about its Cross.
The Cross will remain out of the hospital’s quiet room.
Board Chair Bob Graham stands behind the Hospital’s decision to remove the Cross as well as a large Bible from the quiet room.
Graham says Hanover is a secular non denominational publicly funded hospital and the removal of the Cross from the quiet room was the right move.
The Hanover and District Hospital came under public fire when the Cross and Bible were removed from the quiet room.
Graham believes most of the controversy involved a miscommunication in which many thought the Cross actually left the hospital.
But the Cross has been relocated to the Chaplain’s Office.
Graham says the Hospital has all the support it needs to address the spiritual needs of patients and visitors.
Graham adds it’s now time to move on.
The Cross was removed from the quiet room last month, upon the recommendation of the Hospital’s Ethics Committee.
