A mixed bag in the Construction figures for Owen Sound so far this year.
Community Development Co-ordinator Sandra Parks says the value of construction started in March was just under 4.5 million dollars compared with under two million a year ago.
However, Parks says a big chunk of that is the Waste-water treatment plant upgrade.
The actual number of construction jobs started is less than half the number of March of 2008.
Year to date, 5.5 million dollars worth of construction has started in Owen Sound during the first three months of the year.
That compares with 6.5 million in the first quarter of 2008.
Parks is confident that government stimulus money, and a move by the city to reduce or remove the development charges this year will help boost construction for the rest of 2009.
