A reported abduction attempt in Mount Forest now has been determined to be a hoax.
On April 3rd, Wellington OPP received a report that an 11 year old girl walking home from school was approached by a man in a car who tried to get her into the vehicle.
The girl stated she refused.
A subsequent probe by Wellington OPP and members of the County of Wellington OPP Crime Unit continued to investigate this incident and have now determined that this incident was unfounded.
However in light of the disappearance of an 8 year old Woodstock girl last week — police continue to remind parents to re-enforce with children and students to try to walk to and from school in groups.
Try not to be alone too often.
Don’t speak with strangers and if you see a vehicle and occupants acting suspiciously, to report this to parents and school officials, as well as local police.
