Visitor restrictions have been lifted at one long term care home in Bruce County — but they continue at a second home.
The restrictions have been lifted at the Trillium Court Senior’s Community in Kincardine after an influenza outbreak.
But visitors are still not allowed at the Villa in Ripley because of the same outbreak.
The facilities have been working with the Grey Bruce Health Unit to open the doors to visitors.
Health Unit Program Manager Susan Shular tells us the outbreaks appear to be clearing up at the homes and in the community.
There was also a gastrointestinal outbreak at an unidentified daycare.
However, Shular notes there are some influenza and gastrointestinal illnesses still in the community as people visit hospital emergency rooms.
Depending on the illness — the symptoms include high fever, cough, diarrhea, vomiting and nausea.
Shular recommends if you’re sick, stay at home — to stop the spread of germs — and that goes for adults and especially children.
Shular says to stop the spread of germs — make sure you always wash your hands and get plenty of rest.
