Good news for residents of Saugeen Shores and the Saugeen First Nation who are in need of a family doctor.
Saugeen Shores Council has approved a five-year agreement with Doctor Tara Somerville who will begin practising in the municipality on December 1st.
Municipal staff currently expect that Doctor Somerville will lease space at the medical building in Port Elgin — but that is still up for discussion.
She will also be working for two days each week from the clinic in the Saugeen First Nation.
Mayor Mike Smith says they’ve had discussions with Doctor Somerville and Saugeen Chief Randall Kahgee to get things arranged.
Smith says Doctor Somerville will help serve the medical needs of both communities.
