Brockton residents will see a modest tax increase.
The budget was passed at last nights Council meeting that will see the Municipality spend close to 12 million dollars in 2009.
This will mean a tax increase of 2.15 percent or an additional 21 dollars on the tax bill based on a 125 thousand-dollar home.
Mayor Charlie Bagnato says the Municipality had a surplus of 125 thousand dollars in 2008 and they were able to use that towards this years budget.
He says that is a turn around from 2007 when they found out they were 396 thousand dollars in the red.
Bagnato says property re-assessment enabled them to cut the mill rate and keep the tax increase low.
He says otherwise they would have seen a tax increase close to the 9 percent range.
Bagnato says they didnt have to make any cuts to programs.
He says they were able to get everything that they wanted thanks to some infrastructure funding from both the federal and provincial governments.
He says they are happy with the budget and believes the residents will also be satisfied.
