It may be quite a while before you’ll be able to walk all the way from Wasaga Beach to Collingwood.
Plans to connect the two towns by trails is still on hold.
Director of Leisure Services for Collingwood, Peter Dunbar, says they need to acquire a couple of properties to make it a totally off-road safe route for hikers and cyclists.
He says patience is a virtue and they’ll simply have to wait until those properties come up for sale, they can’t kick people off their land.
Dunbar says he’s been working on connecting Collingwood to surrounding communities for 25 years.
He tells us it would have great economic benefit to be able to walk or bike from Wasaga to Collingwood.
That’s because it would offer a weekend excursion for cyclists to bike through and stay in the area.
Dunbar says he has no idea when they might be able to move forward on this plan.
