A new technological upgrade with the Grey Bruce Health Services means good news for people receiving treatment for cancer.
Grey Bruce Health Services Interim President and CEO Maureen Solecki says new software means patients will get an automatic referral to the South West Community Care Access Centre.
Solecki says as soon as a cancer patient is registered into an oncology service the patient will immediately be referred to the care centre to receive support and encouragement.
Solecki says the centre provides home base care which is needed for patients going through their cancer journey.
Prior to the introduction of the software, many of the patients were not getting referred to the centre in a timely manner.
Solecki says she is very pleased with the improvement since 100 per cent of their cancer patients will receive the extra supportive treatment.
