Kincardine Council has approved three public works tenders for this year.
Cliff Holland Trucking has been awarded the tender to apply calcium to municipal roads at a cost of over 61 thousand dollars.
A tender worth over 332 thousand dollars has been awarded to Joe Kerr Limited for road gravel.
That tender is more than 21 thousand dollars over budget, but Public Works staff believe savings can be found in other areas to absorb the extra cost.
The big tender is worth over 1.5 million dollars and goes to Moorefield Excavating for the Huron Ridge Reconstruction.
Streets to be reconstructed with improved drainage include Inverness South, Balemore, Inverlyn South, and Gingras.
Flooding has been a problem in the area and Mayor Larry Kraemer says the project is meant to target the worst sources of the problem and hopes it will lead to major improvements.
He says they’ll have to wait until next spring to find out how well it works.
