A number of Lucknow residents, fed up with the lack of response stemming from a sewage back up last December, attended this week’s Huron-Kinloss Council meeting demanding answers.
Jackie Wilson and a few other residents came to last nights council meeting to ask that the Township go over their policies regarding sewage by-pass during a flood.
Wilson believes that the Townships water operator — Veolia — is responsible for the sewage backing up into her basement and the basement of other households.
She says she came to the meeting to follow up on her delegation at the March 17th Council meeting.
Wilson says there has been nothing done as raw sewage continued to enter into their basements this past weekend.
She says there are documents from the Ministry of the Environment stating that the operator cant close the by-pass during a flood situation.
She says unless something is done this will continue.
Mayor Mitch Twolan says he understands that the residents in Lucknow are quite upset over what happened last December.
He says there were good valid points to revisit the policies and procedures to make sure this does not happen again.
Twolan says Veolia did what they had to do and did their job adding the MOE had no objections to what the operator did that day.
He says it was an extraordinary event adding the residents in Lucknow experienced a perfect storm.
