A fundraiser has been held to help an Owen Sound woman prepares to fight for custody of her two year old son, Daine.
The fundraiser was held at the Owen Sound Legion yesterday.
The case goes before an Australian court June 11th, and Jessica Fleugel is hoping to cover some of the legal costs, as well as transportation costs for her son should she win.
Jessica Fleugel is not planning on flying to Australia, and is hoping a lawyer can handle the case for her.
The young toddler was sent to Australia last October as a result of a ruling under the United Nation’s Hague Convention treaty.
Because Daine lived there for 15 months prior to returning home to his birthplace in Ontario, the Owen Sound superior court ruled that custody must be determined in Australia.
The boys’ Grandmother Esther Gierenger was hoping to raise about five thousand dollars thru the “Card party” fundraiser.
No word on how much the card party brought in.
