There have been some changes announced at Honda in Alliston today.
Lisa Timpf is the Manager of Associate Services at the plant there, and she says they are adding 13 more non-production days from May to July.
It’s going to affect 35,600 employees in the US, Canada, and Mexico, and top executives will be seeing the biggest compensation cuts.
She says it’s in response to the business climate were going through.
Timpf adds they are also reducing bonuses, and are not having any more wage increases.
She says they are also going to have volunary separation available for workers, which means workers would get financial inscentives to leave the company, or enhanced voluntary retirement opportunities.
Timpf adds this is really in an attempt to manage their business prudently, and they are confident in their long term success.
The changes are in response to the business environment that they havn’t really seen before.
