It is a sweet day for one member of the Owen Sound Attack and likely not so good for another member of the club.
Second year center Joey Hishon confirmed this morning that he has been selected for the Canadian Under 18 Hockey Club.
Hishon, who scored 37 goals and had 81 points for the Attack last year, will depart for Minnesota tomorrow and later compete at the Spring Under 18 Championship in Fargo, North Dakota which begins on April 9th.
During the Attack ” exit ” interviews last week, Hishon was informed he had been selected for the squad by Hockey Canada Head Scout Al Murray.
The selection is gratifying for Hishon who was not invited to the Under 18 camp a year ago; a slight he felt provided a great deal of motivation for the past hockey season.
In a similar case, everyone connected with the Attack is stunned that netminder Scott Stajcer was not selected to play for Canada.
Stajcer posted 15 wins in his rookie season for the Attack and was the second highest ranked North American netminder in the NHL Central Scouting Bureau’s mid-season ratings.
Hishon says Stajcer deserves to be on the squad and thinks that the NHL Draft in June will verify how highly regarded Stajcer is.
