Long time Liberal MPP for Huron Bruce and broadcaster Murray Gaunt has died.
He was 73.
Gaunt was in the Ontario Legislature from 1962 until 1981 and was a staunch supporter of the farm community.
He served as Liberal Agriculture Critic at Queens Park, as well as Environment Critic.
Former Liberal MPP Bob McKessock says Gaunt was well liked by the farming community and politicians at Queens Park.
Murray Gaunt was one of only 153 people to be inducted into the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame.
Gaunt was inducted into the hall in 2005 and was President of the Hall of Fame from 2000-2001.
He was also chair of the Ontario Broiler and Hatching Egg and chick commission in Guelph but was probably recognized more recently as the Face of Farming.
Gaunt was the Farm Director for the Wingham TV station from 1981 until 1992 when the Local TV news show was cancelled in favour of the London TV news hour.
After the TV News show was cancelled, Gaunt continued broadcasting his farm news on radio until retirement in 1999.
A funeral for Murray Gaunt will be held at 2 PM Saturday at the Presbyterian Church in Wingham.
There will be a reception afterwards at Wescast.
