Ever dream about being a member of the RCMP?
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is holding a recruitment presentation in Owen Sound tonight.
It begins at 6:30 PM at Georgian College.
Constable Michael Duke tells Bayshore Broadcasting News this is part of their commitment to hire two thousand officers within the next year.
You don’t need a police foundations or law and security diploma — you don’t even need to be bilingual.
In fact, Constable Duke says they are looking for people from various backgrounds.
But you must be at least 18 years old and a Canadian citizen.
You must also have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s licence, and a willingness to move anywhere in Canada.
Constable Duke says a career with the RCMP is going to take an investment.
He notes there will be a year long series of physical and aptitude tests as well as interviews before becoming a RCMP officer.
Constable Duke is hopeful he will find some recruits in Owen Sound.
Duke was at Georgian College for a job fair about three months ago and he says many people were open to a career with the RCMP.
Constable Duke recommends you check their website at — www.rcmp.ca — before attending the presentation tonight.
