Saugeen Shores Police is in need of both an experienced and a rookie constable.
Chief Dan Rivett says Constable George Stokes is leaving at the end of the month.
Constable Stokes has been with Saugeen Shores for his entire policing career of 29 years.
Rivett says his replacement candidate will have already gone to police college and will be on the street by the summer, after orientation in the municipality.
The rookie – would be sent to police college this May, and nine weeks later be paired up with a “coaching officer” until the candidate was deemed ready to be on his/her own.
Rivett says they are able to hire a rookie — thanks to a funding grant from the federal government announced last fall.
Applications are being accepted until the end March 31st.
