There is a scrap metal thief on the loose in the Owen Sound area.
Grey County OPP report someone has been stealing scrap metal from bins left at the five car dealerships on the Sunset Strip.
A scrap metal dealer has a deal with the dealerships that used metal such as body parts, brake components and exhaust systems are thrown into the bin.
The dealer would pick them up — but Police say for over a year now, much if not all of the metal is removed prior to pick up.
The value of the stolen metal has topped 10 thousand dollars.
Even locks and chains have been cut or broken.
Police believe most of the thefts occur on Friday night’s and the suspects likely use a truck or a trailer.
