The Ontario Lacrosse Association Senior Lacrosse League has shortened their 2009 playing schedule.
Initially, each team in the league had a 20 game schedule.
However, O.L.A. Senior Commissioner Sharon McKechnie confirmed this morning that the schedule has been reduced and each team will now play 16 times in the regular season.
McKechnie relates that cost and time consumption was the primary factor involved.
While not citing the teams specifically, McKechnie indicated there was a concern in some centres that the 20 game schedule would create a financial hardship.
Furthermore, McKechnie indicated that the initial schedule was deemed to be too busy for some teams.
McKechnie did say the majority of teams in the Senior League approved of the 20 game schedule, but for the long term success of the league, everyone has adopted the new 16 game schedule
The defending President Cup Champion Owen Sound van Dolder Home Team Woodsmen will play their first game on Saturday May 2nd when they host the
Norwood Nitro at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Center
The new schedule for the League & for the Woodsmen is posted on our web site at www.bayshorebroadcasting.ca
