A lot of red lights going off in Alliston.
The Alliston Hornets thumped the visiting Walkerton Hawks 9-6 in Game 2 of their OHA Junior C Quarterfinal & now hold a 2-0 lead in the series.
A sell-out crowd at the New Tecumseth Recreation Complex saw the Hornets build a 4-0 lead in the first and an 8-2 lead in the second before the Hawks showed some life in the third to make it close.
The Hornets got off to a quick start scoring 2 goals 27 seconds apart on Hawks starter Brock Hansell in the first two minutes of the game.
Hansell was then replaced in net by Clayton Fritsch but it didnt seem to matter as the Hornets continued to score on the Hawks beleaguered goaltenders.
Hansell replaced Fritsch in net for the remainder of the game after the Hornets made the score 5-1, 7 minutes into the second period.
Hornets starter Troy Dowswell was solid in goal until the Hawks scored 4 times in the third — 3 of those goals within a 3-minute span — and was replaced midway through the period by Breton McKinnon.
Jason Campeau and Alex McTeer each had 2 goals while Kyle McDowell had a 4-point night with a goal and 3 assists for the Hornets.
Ryan Algar, Chad Camirand, Kyle McPherson, and Mike Campeau also scored for Alliston.
Owen Sound Attack draft pick Chris Brown had 3 assists for the Hornets.
Walkerton got 2 goals from Ryan Amyot and singles from Greg Wardell, Mike Roelofsen, Justin Wakewich, and Drew Davidson.
Game 3 of this best-of-seven set goes this Thursday night at the Walkerton Community Centre.
